Apple Crisp

Ingredients

  • *Apples:
  • 3 large granny smith apples, skinned, cored and sliced thin
  • 3 large honey crisp apples , skinned, cored and sliced thin (pink lady or other crisp apples work well also)
  • 2 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1-2 tbsps butter or coconut oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • *Crumble Topping
  • 1 cup old-fashioned or quick oats (gluten-free if necessary)
  • 1/2 cup almond flour

Directions

  1. Prepare an 8x8 inch baking pan with butter or coconut oil, set aside.
  2. Set the oven to 350° and prepare all the ingredients while it warms up.
  3. Peel and core the apples, slice them into thin slices (or equal sized cubes, if you wish).
  4. In a medium size bowl, toss the apples, maple syrup, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour the apple mixture into the 9x9 inch baking dish.
  5. *Apple Crumble
  6. In a medium size bowl add all the ingredients, mix together with your hands until it is combined and crumbly.
  7. Pour the crumble on the apple mixture in the 9x9 inch pan.
  8. *Baking the Apple Crisp
  9. Place the apple crisp into the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  10. Remove the baking dish from the oven, allow it to cool for about 10 mins.
  11. Serve with ice cream or a whipped cream.
