Ingredients
- 4 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Gala work well), cored and sliced
- 1 cup mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp pure maple syrup or honey
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tbsp arrowroot powder or cornstarch (helps thicken)
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup almond flour (or whole wheat flour)
- 1/3 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1/4 cup coconut oil or olive oil (melted)
- 2 tbsp maple syrup or honey
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of sea salt
Directions
- Preheat oven: 350°F (175°C).
- Make the filling: In a large bowl, combine apples, berries, lemon juice, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, and arrowroot powder. Stir until fruit is coated. Pour into a lightly greased 9x9 baking dish.
- Make the topping: In another bowl, mix oats, almond flour, nuts, cinnamon, and salt. Add melted coconut oil and maple syrup. Stir until crumbly.
- Assemble: Spread topping evenly over the fruit mixture.
- Bake: Place in oven and bake for 35–40 minutes, until topping is golden brown and fruit is bubbling.
- Cool slightly: Let it rest 10 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm with a dollop of unsweetened Greek yogurt or coconut yogurt for extra creaminess.
