What's your favorite beverage on a hot summer day? Mine is lemonade, ice cold lemonade (loaded with Vitamin C)! With summer around the corner, it's time to spice up our traditional lemonade and add a healthy boost of ginger and turmeric to the mix.

Turmeric has traditionally been used as an anti-inflammatory, it is a traditional spice used in India that has recently become a popular "superfood" here (in the USA).

Feel free to swap the honey for maple syrup to make this beverage vegan friendly.

Ingredients

  • 4 lemons, skin removed
  • 6-7 cups water
  • 1 inch piece turmeric root, skin removed
  • 1 inch piece ginger root, skin removed
  • fresh cracked peppercorns
  • honey or other sweetener of choice
  • ice

Directions

Add all the ingredients as listed to a blender.

Blend well until smooth. Adjust sweetness.

Pour over ice, enjoy immediately.
