Working out or playing sports in the summer heat can get sweaty, really sweaty!! It is important that you take the time to focus on staying hydrated and to replenish electrolytes.
Reaching for many sports drinks or other electrolyte drinks may be a quick fix, BUT in them is a list of unwanted ingredients (processed sugars, colors, natural flavors, etc). When I'm in a hurry, I might sometimes drink a coconut water. However, I prefer making one of our go-to electrolyte drinks like this Watermelon Electrolyte Drink.
In this recipe we use coconut water (naturally hydrates and is a great source of potassium), watermelon (high water content, vitamin C, A, and magnesium), celtic sea salt (contains vital trace minerals and elements, is thought to balance electrolytes in the body and prevent muscle cramping), and fresh lime juice (vitamin C).
We typically drink ours 1-2 hours before going out or after we return home, depending on the activity we have planned. This is so refreshing!
Enjoy!
XO,
Bobbielee
