This creamy, delicious Golden Milk roots from the Ayurvedic kitchen. I first learned about Haldi (turmeric) Doodh (milk) aka Golden Milk in a book by a man named Yogi Bhajan, where he teaches about the vitality and health benefits that this drink provides.

Turmeric (what gives this milk yellow/golden color) is a very healing food, it is thought to be beneficial for the joints, organs, inflammation, etc. I add turmeric root to a lot of foods for this very reason.

As the base, I prefer to use coconut milk or flax milk but feel free to swap with your own milk preference.

Be sure to include the black pepper as it assists in the bioavailability of the curcumin.

Cheers!

XO,

Bobbielee

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk of choice (I prefer hemp or coconut milk)
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp fresh ground ginger root
  • 1 stick of cinnamon (can use cinnamon powder instead)
  • pinch of black pepper
  • maple syrup (sweeten to taste)

Directions

In a small saucepan (on medium heat) add all the ingredients (except the maple syrup).

Heat for about 5 minutes. Whisk often to prevent it from burning to the bottom of the pan.

Now add the maple syrup to sweeten as desired.

Serve immediately.
